Backstory

“One day I was climbing around on top of amps and cabs and touring gear looking for a guitar in my locker when I got a call from Jimmy Iovine. I’d just moved to Los Angeles and was still adjusting to life away from NYC. Jimmy thought I’d be a great producer so he enlisted me to work with Gavin Rossdale from Bush and my old Helmet bandmate and pal Chris Traynor on their Institute album. I was reluctant when Jimmy first phoned but ended up loving the work and learning a lot. It has made me a better producer for Helmet and led to work all over the place with a wide variety of artists including the projects listed below. In my opinion bands are often their own worst enemies and let labels and managers influence what they do so half my job is to help them find what they want to do rather than what they think they should do. It actually works sometimes!  I just signed on to produce a great and seminal power metal band from the east coast of the US called Liege Lord! More coming” -PH
